Kudus likes to take one Ajax player to the next club: “We are twins”

Mohammed Kudus is open to a new contract with Ajax, according to a pre-publication of an interview in The Telegraph. In the full version of the interview, Kudus speculates, with a smile, about a transfer: if it came to that, his next club would be wise to also bring in Steven Berghuis. “Yes, because we are the Ajax twins,” says Kudus.

Kudus and Berghuis have a good connection both inside and outside the lines. The Ghanaian calls his Dutch teammate a ‘family man’ and a ‘warm person’. “You can see that when he is at the club. Not only this season, now that I am playing well and I am important, but also last year, he paid a lot of attention to me. We have a special connection on the field, but also outside it. Steven realizes that I am only 22 years old and far from home, even though I sometimes seem 28. He is helpful with tips to become a good Ajax player, but also gives his honest opinion if it is not positive. ”

Outside the lines, the attackers regularly talk to each other; on the field, ‘one glance’ is enough for them to understand each other’s intentions. “I know exactly what he does in which situation and vice versa. We have all discussed that carefully. But don’t forget the role of Devyne Rensch as right back and our striker Dusan Tadic.”

Kudus has a contract with Ajax until mid-2025, but is therefore open to an extension. The playmaker wanted to move to Everton last summer. However, he himself ‘eliminated’ the reason for his departure wish by conquering a starting place. If Kudus and Berghuis actually leave, that would be a big blow for Ajax. Together they were involved in 40 goals in official matches this season: Kudus scored 18 times and provided 5 assists, while Berghuis scored 9 goals and prepared 8
