Jil Teichmann manages to free himself from Belinda Bencic at the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. She beat the number 9 seeded Eastern Switzerland on her 26th birthday 3: 6, 6: 3, 6: 3.
Teichmann, who, unlike Bencic, did not enjoy a bye in the first round, benefited after two and a half hours from Bencic’s backhand error on the third match point. It was her second victory in the third direct duel with the Fed Cup teammate, who was four months older and 30 places ahead of her in the world rankings.
