“It’s going to hurt a lot”: Netflix unveils the trailer for season 2 of “At the heart of the peloton”

Like “Drive to survive”, the event series on Formula 1, “At the heart of the peloton” seems set to settle in the program schedule of the streaming giant Netflix. The documentary series which goes behind the scenes of the Tour de France, the most followed cycling race in the world, will return next month with a season 2 which revealed its first images this Thursday.

A second season which promises to be at least as eventful and thrilling as the first, to tell the last edition of a tour which had been rich in twists and turns. There we find individual interviews with the riders, images up close to the peloton and behind the scenes of the teams and their management. Julien Jurdie, sporting director of the AG2R team and an important character in the first season, sums up the atmosphere of this round in one sentence: “it’s going to sting, it’s going to hurt a lot!” »

We can also see some images of the tribute paid inside the tour to Gino Mäder, Swiss cyclist who died following a fall on the Tour de Suisse in June 2023. A minute of silence followed, in the trailer , from a powerful sentence from his former Bahrain-Victorious teammate, Matej Mohoric: “We sacrifice our lives, our family”.

As in the first season, this second version promises a sustained pace, beautiful behind the scenes, spicy subjects, controversies and French riders, including Julian Alaphilippe and Thibaut Pinot who ran his last Tour last season. The broadcast is scheduled for June 11, two weeks before the big start of the 2024 Tour which will take place on Saturday June 29 in Florence, Italy.
