Out of contract with Real Madrid at the end of the season, Marco Asensio is in Pablo Longoria’s sights for the OM transfer window.
Last summer, Pablo Longoria proved that nothing was impossible during the transfer window in Marseille by recruiting Alexis Sanchez. At the end of his contract with Inter Milan, the Chilean international signed up with OM to everyone’s surprise. Pablo Longoria would like to repeat a similar move with a player of international caliber at the end of the contract next summer. This is how, according to information from the 90 Min site, the current PSG runner-up in Ligue 1 is very interested in Marco Asensio, whose lease with Real Madrid expires next June. Replacing in the spirit of Carlo Ancelotti in the Spanish capital, the 27-year-old Spanish attacking midfielder is however a reliable substitute, author of 7 goals and 5 assists since the start of the season despite his low playing time.
Huge competition for OM in the Asensio case
The competition will nevertheless be very fierce for Pablo Longoria in the Marco Asensio case. On paper, the idea of the president of OM is excellent, especially since the Spaniard is still relatively young. But his contractual situation has alerted the biggest European clubs since, according to 90 Min, clubs of the size of FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus Turin or even Chelsea and Arsenal are also doing part of the clubs interested in Marco Asensio. In addition, and this is the most critical element for OM in this case, the player absolutely wants to stay at Real Madrid. For the time being, the merengue club has not yet sent him a contract extension offer but ideally, Marco Asensio intends to continue the adventure within his favorite club, even if it means lowering his salary slightly in view of of his replacement status. Suffice to say that in this case, Marseille is starting from very far but Pablo Longoria knows that he has nothing to lose, which is why he has every intention of giving it a shot.
