Recovered, the leaders of Watford filed an appeal with FIFA and the dispute resolution chamber of the instance had sanctioned OM with a twelve-month ban on recruitment as well as a four-month suspension for the player. OM and Gueye logically appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, which suspended the various sanctions for the Marseille club as well as for Gueye.

The Pape Gueye case decided this week by the CAS

It is this Wednesday that the Court of Arbitration for Sport, seized by Olympique de Marseille as well as by Pape Gueye, will therefore study the file. The CAS advised Pape Gueye, currently on loan from OM to Sevilla FC, to make the trip to Lausanne and the Senegalese international will be there to defend himself. For his part, Pablo Longoria will not be present, nor will his right arm Javier Ribalta. Olympique de Marseille has entrusted this complex file to two Spanish lawyers who have the absolute confidence of the OM president. After the two days of hearing, the Court of Arbitration for Sport will deliver its verdict within two to three months with a decision expected by all the actors in this case no later than May. Remember that Marseille risks a recruitment ban, which Pablo Longoria anticipated from the winter transfer window by recruiting heavyweights with Vitinha, Ounahi and Malinovskyi.
