First Division | Real Valladolid breathes at the expense of a Espanyol that gets into trouble

He Real Valladolid achieved a balsamic victory against the Espanyolafter two consecutive defeats, improving at the finish, although they had to suffer after the 2-1 scored by Braithwaite in the 87th minute and the pressure from the Catalan team in search of a comeback.

The blanquivioleta coach, José Rojo Martín ‘Pacheta’, made a important revolution in the starting eleven, recovering Fresneda and Escudero on the wings, to the detriment of Luis Pérez and Olaza, and betting on Hongla to accompany Roque Mesa in midfield. Opposite, an Espanyol, in pink, with the only change of Joselu Mato for Aleix Vidal.

The ambition was seen from the first barsespecially on the local side. In fact, a good inside pass by Roque Mesa led to a goal by Larin which, however, ended up being disallowed for offside of the Canadian striker. But it was a warning from the locals, just like the arrivals of Plata or a header from El Yamiq after a corner kick that grazed the left post of the goal defended by Pacheco.

The visitors couldn’t control the ball in the face of the rival’s greatest push, but when they had it they showed quality and the power of players like Darder, who shot from outside the area forcing Asenjo to intervene to prevent the goal. It was minute 15. there was intensity at the Jose Zorrilla. So much, that in minute 25, after a transfer of Silver to the outside of the area, Iván Sánchez managed to hook a powerful shot that surprised Pacheco and made it 1-0.

Every mistake that the locals made translated into dangerous arrivals from Espanyol, although at the end it was excessively slow, which gave the defense of Real Valladolid an advantage. Puado was able to balance the result, after taking advantage of a fall by Escudero, with a great shot that repelled the crossbar.

Despite of visitors’ final rushwho eagerly sought an equalizer in the last minutes of the first half, came to rest with the local advantage thanks to a goal by Iván Sánchez.

After the restart, Those of Diego Martínez sought more possession of the ball to create even more danger. In those early stages, El Yamiq intervened opportunely to prevent a shot from Denis Suárez. Shortly after, Joselu tried from the outside, but his hit went over the local goal.

Pacheta made the first change. He entered Aguado through Roque Mesa to ensure the consistency in midfield and he immediately gained prominence, as he added a goal to the blanquivioleta scoreboard after perfectly finishing off a ‘death pass’ that Silver gave him. 2-0 for Real Valladolid and their fans, delivered. Espanyol could not lower their arms and Puado sought to close the gap with a cross shot that failed to find the goal.

The blanquivioleta coach wanted to take advantage of all the changes to consolidate the result, without giving up the attack. Plata was able to put the icing on the cake for the local victory, but he finished off a pass from Aguado to a post without any obstacles. Valladolid fans could not believe that ruling.

It went from 3-0 to 2-1 thanks to a goal from Braithwaite, who knew how to make good use of the space between the lines to finish off at will against Asenjo after a good pass from Darder. He returned the suffering to the stadium of the Valladolid team, who knew how to withstand the pressure of Espanyol until the final whistle.
