On Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 March, the Figeacois badminton club organized the 11th edition of its annual tournament at the Cosec gymnasium.
The competition welcomed 110 players over the whole weekend, from clubs in Occitanie and Nouvelle-Aquitaine. From regional to beginner level, the competitors competed on the different tables of H/D singles, mixed doubles (Saturdays), and H/D doubles (Sundays), for a total of 170 matches played over the two days. Laurent Ferragutti, federal umpire from Lot, coordinated the smooth running of the sporting event.
As always, the players from Figeac provided the welcome, the bar, the holding of the score table and the atmosphere, meeting with pleasure former badminton players who had come to take part in the tournament. On the court, the latter achieved good results, with the victories of Chloé Lacabane in women’s singles series 1, Damien Mazenc and Pauline Chaintron in mixed doubles series 2, Pierre-Elie Brandli and Timothée Hervé in mixed doubles series 3, and Lucie Billet and Timothée Hervé in women’s doubles series 3. There are also good finalist places for Maël Ghéri in men’s singles series 1, Nicolas Rivallo and Lucie Billet in mixed doubles series 2, Lionel Gabaude and Adeline Vernis in mixed doubles series 3, Maël Ghéri and Gabriel Latournerie in men’s doubles series 1, Laura Fauvel and Chloé Lacabane in women’s doubles series 2, and Séverine Guiochet and Julie Mouillaud in women’s doubles series 3.
Figeac Badminton recently celebrated its 35th anniversary. On the workforce side, there are currently 111 licensed players, ie forty young people (minibad to junior) and 71 adults (seniors and veterans). They meet on Mondays, Thursday evenings and Sunday mornings at the Cosec gymnasium to practice leisure or competitive badminton. To close this beautiful season in sport and conviviality, the CBF will organize Saturday, June 24, a Bad’becue day open to all.
