Ferrari Removes F1 Car Posters Set in Nabawi Mosque

Jakarta

The social media of the Ferrari F1 team was criticized for displaying a racing car poster with a picture of the Nabawi Mosque as a background. Ferrari has since deleted the post.

The Ferrari F1 team will compete in the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix on Monday (20/3) in the morning WIB. As usual, each team promotes the race.

Viral on social media, posts by the Ferrari team via Scuderia Ferrari featuring their F1 racing car with the Prophet’s Mosque in the background. Then written the description of Jeddah.

Suddenly, this was considered offensive to Muslims. It should be noted, the Nabawi Mosque is a Muslim holy place founded by the Prophet Muhammad.

“This is actually crazy. Not only have you edited a car into the world’s holiest place for Muslims, you are also using it to advertise a race in a completely different city,” one netizen tweeted.

“This is a consequence of the lack of diversity within the team and the Eurocentric mindset that continues despite F1 being a global sport,” another said.

Under surveillance detikSport, those posts have been deleted. To note, the 2023 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will be held at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Jeddah City. Meanwhile, the Nabawi Mosque is in the Holy City of Medina.
