The Hessians now have the exclusion of Eintracht Frankfurt fans from the Champions League game in Naples in black and white. The association announces a lawsuit.

Bundesliga soccer club Eintracht Frankfurt is taking action against the fan exclusion in the Champions League with a temporary injunction in fast-track proceedings. The club confirmed this in a statement.

However, the chances of success that Frankfurt supporters will still be able to attend the second leg in the round of 16 of the premier class at SSC Napoli next Wednesday are very low: “Realistically, with our experienced Italian lawyers, we have little hope of being able to overturn the order in the urgent procedure,” said Eintracht board member Philipp Reschke. “We are preparing for a long and tough administrative process.”

Italian government banned ticket sales

The announced decree by the Prefecture of Naples prohibiting the Serie A leaders from selling tickets to German residents was also formalized and brought to Eintracht Frankfurt’s attention. “This is a unique and competition-distorting process in European club football,” criticized Reschke.

He again expressed his incomprehension about the controversial decree. “The fact that the games against Napoli would be classified as so-called high-risk games due to the rivalry and the overall circumstances, which of course also posed a challenge for the respective security officers on site, is not a new finding overnight, but was clear from the day of the draw,” said Reschke .

riots in the first leg

The Neapolitan security authorities have had four months to prepare and are “either unwilling or unable to provide security around this game in the city and in the stadium. “Both are equally unacceptable and hard to believe.” , Reschke complained.

Head coach Oliver Glasner reported how people from his environment are canceling their trips and hotels in Naples. On the fringes of the first leg on February 21, which the Hessians lost 2-0, there were physical attacks on Italian fans in Frankfurt. Nine people were briefly taken into custody at the time.
