Extend Seawolves and Hero: Team weakened

Christian Held will remain coach of the basketball Bundesliga club Rostock Seawolves in the coming season. The coach extended his contract with the Mecklenburgers until 2024. The club announced this on Thursday evening. Sporting director Jens Hakanowitz is quoted as saying that we are very pleased to extend the contract with head coach Christian Held and thus have planning security for the coaching position for the coming season.

The Rostock Seawolves are currently in tenth place in the table, but despite a balanced account of points after 24 match days, they are still looking at their pursuers before the home game against Würzburg on Saturday (8:30 p.m. / MagentaSport). Although the Seawolves and the guests, in ninth place in the table, each have twelve wins and are within reach of the playoff places, the Rostock team’s declared goal is still to remain in the league.

Those in charge are aware that the promoted team can come a big step closer to this goal with a win against Würzburg. However, coach Christian Held admitted that his team will probably not be complete on Saturday. The 34-year-old had trained with just eight players in the past few days.

He also referred to the strong squad of guests: With Stanley Whittaker and Cameron Hunt, the Würzburg team has a strong duo in the guard positions that leads the team. For his team, it’s against a team that absolutely wants to make the playoffs, Held continued and emphasized: We have to do our best again to be successful with the support of the fans.
