The hype surrounding Niclas Füllkrug continues: will the Bremen star striker stay or will he change in the summer? Füllkrug himself is apparently quite relaxed.

It’s hard for Niclas Füllkrug to wipe the cheeky grin off his face these days. Everything seems to be going by itself for Werder’s most important man: he has already scored 15 times for Bremen this season and for the national team six times in six games.

Of course, such a run arouses desires and the fact that the 30-year-old striker’s contract with Werder runs until 2025 is no guarantee in the football business. The hype surrounding the filling jug continues – but does it also work? On Thursday, the World Cup hero was still very relaxed about his future.

Filling jug over…

…his furious run

Of course I’m in a little flow at the moment and trying to keep it alive. Try to keep working and train around it as much as possible so that it’s easier for me to turn such situations into goals. It’s going very well this season and I hope it continues like this.

…his vertical start in the national jersey

So I don’t have to pinch myself because I see the positive things as well as the negative things. I also have situations where I see room for improvement and which you might not recognize at first glance. But even then I try to see it realistically and keep going back to the analysis. The coach does that too. Accordingly, there is still enough work to be done.

…the hype surrounding him and why he stays so cool

That has to do with many things. On the one hand, because I know it when things don’t go so well. If you are injured or have a worse phase. On the other hand, it is also my environment that shapes me and shows me what the important things in life are. I can classify myself realistically, no matter how big the hype or the hate is. Being humble and down to earth are the things I want to stand for. That’s why it’s not difficult for me not to go crazy now.

But I do like being perceived in such a positive way, because that’s who I am. It’s not someone who pretends, so it’s nice that I’m well received as a person, as a character. Of course, you also have to consider that things are going quite well at the moment. I don’t know if people still think I’m cool if I miss three games.

… exchange rumors that are circulating

I don’t really care, I’m completely relaxed about it. These are often things that you don’t even know where they come from. This is often speculation and rumours. There may always be something to it, but the fact that it affects Ducksch and me at the same time – I do find some things interesting, how they are received and how they are reported on. But you can also tinker many things together the way you want them to be. If you look at it all more realistically, there would be a lot less in the newspaper.

…his plans for the summer

My family is behind me 100 percent in everything I set my mind to and whatever I feel like doing. But the fact is that we feel comfortable here. We’re fine here. At the end of March I didn’t do anything and I don’t plan to at the moment. No talks have taken place yet. My head is completely with Werder and I want to finish the season as well as possible. There’s still a lot of time, I don’t feel any pressure. It will be seen what happens.
