Esther Pereira, double medalist in the Senior Badminton Master of Medina del Campo

The Senior National Master that was held last weekend in the Valladolid town of Medina del Campo resulted in several medals from Soria, highlighting the performance of Esther Pereira from Burgos, obtaining medals in both doubles modalities. The Soriana expedition also won another seven bronze medals.

Esther Pereira, a doubles specialist, confirmed her quality by obtaining the gold medal in the women’s double with Jennifer Fernández from Palencia and in the mixed double, partnering with Victor Ortega from Soria belonging to the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club.

These results keep the burgense as number one in the national ranking of both categories.

Víctor Ortega, for his part, also competed in the individual draw where he also had an excellent performance until he won the bronze medal.

David Hernansanz, current runner-up in Spain, also obtained double medals in his category. In the singles semifinals, he dropped in three sets in a physically demanding match. In the doubles modality of the category, the podium had a double presence from Soria with David himself and Sergio Latorre from Burgos with his usual partners.

José Carlos Pérez also took two third places in both the men’s double and the mixed double, partnering with Fernando Herrero and Gloria Latorre from Madrid, respectively.

The last medal was obtained by Santiago Martínez in the mixed doubles of his category together with Beatriz Martín from Extremadura, from Club Badminton Leganés, who have obtained metal in the three national masters held to date.

On the other hand, and three thousand kilometers away, the young Daniela Corchón from Soria was competing in the U17 Polish Open that was held in Suwa?ki.

With the set objective of qualifying for the European championship in the category, Daniela is playing part of the European calendar to improve positions in the continental ranking as well as get used to big tournaments. In last weekend’s appointment, the Soriana had the best performance of hers in the individual modality, reaching the round of thirty-two best. After this competition, Daniela plans to play another individual competition before the summer.
