Day of judo with VfB at the Adolf Reichwein School: the physical education lesson on the judo mat

Langenhagen. In cooperation with VfB Langenhagen, the Adolf-Reichwein elementary school again took part in the “Day of Judo”. The nationwide initiative launched by the German Judo Federation is intended to give pupils the opportunity to playfully engage with the sport of judo.
After the pandemic break, the third year was the first to enjoy the judo lesson. Excited, the children entered the hall, where “Danni” – a member of the school staff and VfB trainer – was already waiting for them in a judo suit. After the traditional greeting and a little warm-up game, things got straight to the point: Kneeling and turning your partner onto your back – according to judo rules. Supported by the VfB trainers Lena and Nico, the children quickly managed the trick. And the astonishment was great that Danni brought Nico to the ground with this “trick” from a standing position with a big bang and he got up again smiling. Lena and Nico then showed what you can learn in judo. And so the motivation was huge to try out ground fighting right away. The Japanese “mate” and the traditional greeting ended the lesson far too quickly. The children agreed that the lesson was far too short and that they wanted more of it.
The director of the sports conference, Britta Großmann, was happy with how the children enjoyed the lesson and that the focus in judo is on having fun and not winning. Further impressions of the “Day of Judo” can be found on the school’s own website www.adolf-reichwein-schule-langenhagen.de. Anyone interested in judo at VfB is cordially invited to a taster session. The training times can be found on the club’s website www.vfb-langenhagen.de.
