Cycling: The 6th stage of Paris-Nice canceled due to strong winds

The sixth stage of the Paris-Nice cycling event, which was to connect Tourves (Var) to La Colle-sur-Loup (Alpes-Maritimes), was canceled this Friday because of “exceptionally violent winds” specified the organization in a press release.

The organizers decided to “preserve the safety of the riders” as the wind “caused several tree falls in the region” and made “the cancellation of the stage inevitable”.

Before this cancellation, the organizers had initially decided to modify the route by shortening the stage. The runners then returned to their coach to directly reach kilometer 117, thus reducing the stage to only 80 km.

Finally, the organizers took the decision to postpone the 6th stage definitively, noting that trees had fallen in the last kilometers before the finish in La Colle-sur-Loup. The continuation of Paris-Nice will take place on Saturday with a departure from Nice for the Col de la Couillole, at the end of a 142 km long race.
