Cangrande Award 2023: here are the winners

(by Matteo Zanon) The Veronese sporting excellence of 2022 was awarded on Monday afternoon in the Gran Guardia. The Cangrande award, established in 1995 by the then sports councilor Camillo Cametti, is the recognition that the municipal administration and the Bentegodi Foundation assign to the athletes who achieved important goals in the previous season.

The Cangrande d’Oro went to Thomas Ceccon, a young swimmer capable of becoming world champion at the Budapest 2022 World Championships in the 4×100 relay and in the 100-meter backstroke where he set the record. An Olympic athlete, she represented Italy at the Tokyo 2020 Games, winning a silver in the 4×100m freestyle relay and a bronze in the 4×100m medley.

The other awards went to:

Cangrande specialty: Sofia Milani (sport climbing); Davide Nalin (paraclimbing); Sofia Bellesini (sport climbing); Federico Crosara (table tennis); Samuele Seghetti (tennis); Giacomo Farina (wakeboarding).

Cangrande school: Giacomo Bertoncelli (athletics 400 hs).

Cangrande coach: Roberto Franzoni (sport climbing); Marina Castellani (artistic gymnastics).

Social Cangrande in sport: V-Ales by bike with friends; Vr ’93 football club journalists association.

Cangrande sports manager: Desiree Vantin (badminton) and Stefania Poli (figure skating).

Cangrande team: Scaligera basket for winning the A2 championship and for promotion to A.
