Almost nine months to the day after his terrible ankle injury in the semi-finals against Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros, Alexander Zverev reached this stage again this Thursday at the ATP 500 in Dubai.

Winner of Lorenzo Sonego, the German appeared at the post-match press conference with the impression of being as strong if not better than before this famous injury.

“I think I’m starting to play at a very good level and I handle stressful situations perfectly. I would say that the tennis I have been showing for a few matches is much better than what I was showing on some occasions before the injury. I am very happy to have regained positive sensations in a tournament as demanding as this and the truth is that I am very happy with my performance on the court. Big challenges await me, but for now, I’m only thinking about the next game. It’s great to feel that all my hard work is starting to pay off. »
