Atlético de Madrid 6 – 1 Sevilla: Memphis, Griezmann and Morata join Cholo’s party

Forced by circumstances (Reinildo’s injury and Nahuel’s sanction), and because he does not trust a hair (it can be deduced) from Doherty, the last winter signing, Simeone abandoned the defense of four of the last times and returned to the old drawing of five with which he won his last trophy. A wink that unintentionally connected with the celebrations of the night, the memory of what Cholo was (an indisputable legend when looking back) on the day when, with 613 games on the rojiblanco bench, he surpassed Luis Aragonés himself. He celebrated it before the meeting with the stands and the family from the midfield, also covered by the son of the Wise Man. The Metropolitan, grateful and united again by the best of his memories.

The romp to the lineup and the system threw on the grass another novelty, ultimately more decisive: the first ownership of Memphis Depay. The Dutchman competed with Cholo for the photo of the night. And that in his first appearance he risked having his soccer card withdrawn for an infamous control only in front of Bono after a long gift from Hermoso. He more than made up for it. First with an accurate gallop to take advantage of a delicacy from Griezmann (he is the best) and above all with a marvelous goal of his own harvest in an action that was difficult to predict: the play called for a pass to Lemar on the left, but Memphis accommodated the ball in the other direction and released a shot with his right foot that made a hole in the Sevilla squad.

  • At. Madrid:

  • Sevilla:
Bono; Montiel (Navas, m.87), Gudelj, Nianzou, Mint; Gueye, Rakitic (Telles, m.79), Jordan; Suso (Oliver, 67), En-Nesyri (Gil, m.79) and Ocampos (Mir, m.87).
  • Goals:
    1-0, m.23: Memphis. 2-0, m.26: Memphis. 2-1, m. 40: En-Nesyri. 3-1, m.53: Griezmann. 4-1, m.69: Carrasco. 5-1, m. 75: Morata. 6-1, m.92: Morata
  • Referee:
Cuadra Fernandez. He showed yellow to Giménez, Nianzou, Acuña. He expelled Gueye (81) for a double reprimand.

Game over, Atlético thought for the worse. Or Giménez at least. And Sevilla, who had appeared for the Metropolitan impressed or flattened, resigned, made him pay. En-Nesyri closed the gap in an act of faith by Gueye and the negligent passivity of the Uruguayan central defender. Oblak had to avoid another scare from Suso’s shot before the break. He played a wake-up call in dressing rooms. Or screams. For both sides.

And what happened later was that Griezmann (he’s the best) decided that if the night was full of photos, he wanted to go out. And so, after a while of sterile possession of Sevilla, for which they will say more than anything, and of virtuous controls by Carrasco, precious but also a bit useless, the Frenchman enlarged his biography with a sensational goal. A left-footed shot from the front, behind a strange wall with Koke, which broke Bono’s other squad. The Moroccan didn’t stop badly, it’s that they left him sold, and when they didn’t, they fired missiles at him.

So Griezmann, who has been sweet since he apologized and reconciled with the stands, eight assists (more than anyone else) and eight goals, closed the game for the second time. Or so Atlético thought for the worse. Savic at least. But the mistake of the Montengerino sent him this time to the clouds Suso.

Sevilla did not want to get up, or so it seemed, especially after Carrasco accumulated another goal (what happens without looking at the boy Barrios!), but Atlético was determined to send him invitations to do so. Or Llorente and Gimenez. Rakitic sent the penalty from the side to the post and now the colchoneros stuck to the tribute. Morata rounded off the win (another wonderful service from Griezmann, although it does not count as an assist) with two goals, the Irishman made his debut, Cuadra sent off Gueye and the Metropolitan, encouraged by Cholo’s fuss as on great days, sang happy once and for all . With goals, waves, olés, hugs and all those things that seemed forgotten. Cholo’s great day ended in homage and in a colchonerismo party. And with Atlético, third.
