A photo with Alaba? “We have to ‘believe’ in it!”

“Hey, we have to ‘believe’,” a schoolboy reminded his friends to be patient, “we’ll see, he’ll come!”

This refers to David Alaba, who completed an individual session during the open training session of the ÖFB team in Windischgarsten and was in place much longer than his colleagues.

A handful of national players skipped the unit entirely and took care of the around 500 onlookers. The group around Marcel Sabitzer wrote autographs diligently and fulfilled numerous photo requests.

This can be interpreted as an important signal that the criticism of ÖFB fans regarding too little proximity to the players is at least heard.

Arnautovic came to the team evening

The other ÖFB kickers completed a relaxed session that only lasted around 45 minutes. At least on the field, because they also put on a real “fan marathon” afterwards.

However, the many happy faces squinted towards the side square, where Alaba made his meters. The ailing real star will spend the entire week in the ÖFB camp.

Unlike Marko Arnautovic, who had to cancel due to injury, but still made the journey to Windischgarsten on Monday to be present at the team evening.

The Believer was right

After his session ended, Alaba had no choice but to join the waiting fans, who also clamored for the 30-year-old to come and see them.

So the “Believer” was right – as a reward for his correct prediction, he wanted a meat loaf sandwich.

For almost half an hour, Alaba fulfilled almost every autograph and selfie request or even gave a hug or two on request.

“Great! I hope the fans had fun too!” Sums up the ÖFB captain.
