This weekend will take place the 12th Spring Federal organized by the Archers of Saint-Martin, with the participation of shooters from Martinique, Guadeloupe and Saint-Barthélemy. Saturday March 18 will concern the qualifying shots for the national ranking and on Sunday March 19, a fun team shot to try to win the Rose des vents trophy.

The Spring Federal is the biggest annual competition organized by the Archers of Saint-Martin. So, like every edition, the association has planned a great program for the 36 registered archers. Some of them have specially made the trip from the neighboring islands of Saint-Barthélemy, Martinique and Guadeloupe.

Earn the Rose of the Winds trophy

Saturday, March 18, the shooters meet at the beginning of the afternoon to start the qualifying federal shooting which counts in the national ranking to qualify for the next stages of the French archery championship. Archers will be allowed to shoot two sets of 6 ends of 6 arrows, for a total of 72 arrows on targets positioned 20m away for U11s and U13s; 30m for the U15s and minors and finally, 50m for the U18s, U21s and seniors 1-2-3. The shooting begins at 2 p.m. on the association’s site in Galisbay.

The next day, the organizers offer a more fun program with the traditional shooting of the wind rose by team of three mixed shooters, with at least one woman and at most one compound bow. The rest of the bows used can be recurve bows or bare bows. The objective for the teams will be to shoot 72 arrows (2 series of 6 ends of 6 arrows) in an 80cm target face, located 30m away and divided into four equal parts: North-West, North-East, South-West and South East.

The winning team will win the wind rose trophy, namely a cast bronze archer. The previous year, it was a team from Saint-Martin who won the trophy. This is re-issued every year. The contest will start at 9 a.m. and end at noon.
