1250 badminton matches created life in central Jutland

BADMINTON The Nordics’ biggest youth badminton event is over for this year.

ISI Cup 2023 offered no less than 1250 matches spread over 7 halls and as many as 74 courts across Ikast-Brande and Herning municipalities.

17 of the pitches were located in the three halls of Sportscenter Ikast, where the biggest finals were played on Sunday.

But during the weekend matches were also played in Sunds Multicenter, Nordvest Hallen in Tjørring, Bording Hallen, Ejstrupholm Hallen, Engesvang Hallen and not least in Sportscenter Herning, which laid the floor for as many as 34 badminton courts.

Just under 650 young players aged 8 to 19 took part in this year’s ISI Cup.

The host club, Ikast FS Badminton, won several medals themselves across the many age groups and levels. Leander Den Haan was one of the notables when he won gold in the U17/19A championship series.

– There were many really good results for our players, but the most important thing is that they enjoy themselves together, which reinforces our good unity in the club, says event manager Pia Olesen from Ikast FS Badminton.

– The senior players could be found at the judges’ tables, and everyone gave a huge hand. All in all, a fantastic weekend, she states.
