A young woman in Ecatepec, State of Mexico, was doused with gasoline and set on fire on February 6, an assault committed by her brother.

The first versions indicate that Yéssica, 21, was doused with gasoline by Jonathan N, 27, who later set her on fire.

The attack caused Yéssica first and second degree burns on 60 percent of her body. Personnel from the Directorate of Civil Protection and Firefighters took the young woman to the parking lot of a nearby shopping plaza, where she landed the Jaguar II helicopter that took her to the Hospital 20 de Noviembre in Mexico City.

Jonathan “N” was detained by elements of the Directorate of Public Safety and Transit, and presented before the Public Ministry for his probable participation in the crime of attempted femicide.

Paramedics and municipal police officers went to the Cerrada de Huichapan, Camino al Cereso corner, Ciudad Cuauhtémoc neighborhood, to provide support to the victim and secure the aggressor.

At the time of his arrest, the alleged attacker was apparently under the influence of some substance.
