Anna-Lena Friedsam and Eva Lys are now the last Germans in the tournament in Linz. Friedsam advanced to the round of 16 on Wednesday after beating former French Open finalist Sara Errani (Italy) 6-2, 6-4. Lys beat Kamilla Rachimowa 6-4, 7-6 (7-5) on Tuesday conquered.
In the round of the top 16 Friedsam meets Anhelina Kalinina from the Ukraine on Thursday, Lys (Hamburg) has to deal with the Hungarian Dalma Galfi. The hard court tournament in Upper Austria is endowed with 240,000 euros.
