WITAN Sulaeman revealed the story about choosing his jersey number at Persija Jakarta. Before deciding to wear jersey number 78, it turned out that Witan Sulaeman was angry with his Persija teammate, Syahrian Abimanyu, because he originally wanted to wear jersey number 8.
As is known, Witan Sulaeman officially joined Persija Jakarta on January 31, 2023. The Indonesian national team star was contracted by Persija for 3.5 years.
At Persija Jakarta, Witan chose to wear jersey number 78. As it turned out, the former US Trencin player actually wanted to wear number 8 which was his favorite.

However, Witan’s wish was hindered by his teammate, namely Syahrian Abimanyu, who had already worn the number. Witan himself said that he had asked Abhimanyu’s permission to use that number. However, he even got scolded by Abhimanyu.

“The reason I use number 78 is because in the team, number 8 is already used by Abi,” said Witan, quoted from the Persija Jakarta Youtube channel, Friday (10/2/2023),
“Miss, can I use number 8 or not?” said Witan when telling him he asked permission from Abhimanyu to wear the jersey number 8.
