What a beautiful Mokambo! Chieti wins in Chiusi

A No way all heart goes bankrupt Closed and overturns the goal difference. The Theatines can boast 5 men in double figures (10 points for Mastellari and Bartoli, 12 for Serpilli, 13 for Captain Ancellotti and 18 for Jackson), a super Utomi (18 points) is not enough for the hosts.

The match is enthralling right from the start: Bozzetto is quick to score but Bartoli responds after 1 minute and a half of play (2-2). The defenses speed up and both attacks find it difficult to find the way to the basket: Mokambo unlocks it with a shot from Serpilli’s average (2-4 after just over 3 minutes of the match). Serpilli continues to score from below, Bozzetto shortens the partial from beyond the arc but Jackson responds with the same coin: at 03:53 from the first mini break, coach Bassi asks for a one-minute suspension (5-9). Jackson makes 1/2 with the stopwatch stopped, Utomi from beyond the arc and a foul on a triple by Raucci allow the Chiusini to get back into contact at 02:51 from the end of the quarter (10-10). Utomi scores from below but a bomb from Mastellari allows the Theatines to put their nose back forward at 02:07 from the end of the first fraction (12-13). Reale scores after an excellent penetration but Medford’s bomb on the siren allows the hosts to end the first half in a draw (15-15). The start of the quarter opens with Mastellari’s bomb after 1 minute of play (15-18). The red and whites from Abruzzo continue to protect the area well and force the Tuscans to shoot from beyond the arc: Jackson takes advantage of it with a 2+1 after 2 minutes of the quarter and allows the Theatines to reach their maximum advantage (15-21) . The Chiusini try to return with the shot stopped (1/2 by Medford and 2/2 by Raffaelli), Mokambo responds with captain Ancellotti (1/2, 18-22 after just over 3 minutes of the quarter). Chiusi continues not to score from the field, Chieti is good at maintaining density under the planks and, after Jackson’s bomb, coach Bassi is forced to another timeout at 05:49 from the end of the second quarter (18-25). The Theatines reach the maximum advantage with Mastellari’s trip to the line but Utomi’s triple and Raffaelli’s penetration enrage coach Rajola, who takes advantage of the minute of suspension at the halfway point of the second quarter (23-27). Chiusi shortens with the usual Utomi but Mastellari’s trip to the line brings the Theatines back to a safe distance when there are 03:09 left until the long break (25-29).

Utomi proves to be the man with more pace than his team and allows the hosts to bring themselves back to within 1 with a shot from beyond the arc, Roderick scores in a penetration but Raffaelli is good at responding with the same coin: at 00:14 from the long interval, coach Rajola calls timeout (30-31). Magic comes out of coach Rajola’s blackboard and Serpilli scores from the heavy tile: in the twentieth, the partial is 30-34. The resumption of hostilities smiles at Mokambo who, thanks to Jackson’s bomb, Ancellotti’s baskets and Jackson’s free kick by virtue of the coach booed on the Tuscan bench, clears the double-digit lead (30-42 after 2 and a half minutes of quarter , with coach Bassi calling timeout). Chiusi tries to get back into the game with trips to the line by Medford and Bolpin but a magic moment by Bartoli allows the Theatines to stay above the double-digit lead at the halfway point of the third quarter (35-47). Mokambo defends the area in a masterly way, Chiusi suffers from the physicality of the Theatines who, with Ancellotti, extend further and force Coach Bassi to a new timeout (35-49 at 03:22 from the last mini break). Serpilli places a minibreak of 5-0, Raffaelli however is on fire and with 5 points in a row allows him to mend the margin 1 minute from the end of the quarter (40-54). Chiusi doesn’t stop putting his foot on the accelerator and, after the bomb from Utomi’s corner 00:44 from the end of the fraction, coach Rajola asks for a one-minute suspension (43-54). The defenses rev up, the attacks appear confused and so, in the thirtieth minute, the partial is 43-54. The start of the quarter sees the defenses clearly prevail over the attacks and so, after more than 2 minutes of play, the score is stuck at 43-54. Roderick shuffles the cards, Bozzetto replies: after 4 minutes of the quarter the partial is 45-46. Raffaelli continues to demonstrate that he has a good hand from beyond the arc by bringing the double-digit lead under him (48-56), Ancellotti scores from below at the halfway point in the fourth quarter (48-58). The match now moves under the planks, with Bozzetto and Ancellotti standing up as protagonists and so, 2 minutes from the end of the contest, the score is 52-61. Bolpin tries to penetrate but the bombs of Roderick and Jackson allow the red and white to fly on +11 with 01:21 from the end of the match (56-67). Mokambo closes the way to the basket and with Ancellotti and a 2+1 from Bartoli, flies to +16 with 00:45 to go, with coach Bassi calling timeout (56-72). Medford reduces the gap with a shot from beyond the arc but Reale makes 1/2 from the line and allows the Theatines to toast their first away success: in the fortieth minute the scoreboard reads 59-73 (chietibasket1974.it).
