Belinda Bencic, seeded number 2, easily reaches the quarterfinals at the WTA 500 tournament in Abu Dhabi.
After a bye, the ninth in the world rankings prevailed 6: 4, 7: 5 against the Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk (WTA 57). The next opponent is the Estonian Anett Kontaveit (WTA 18) or the American Shelby Rogers (WTA 46).
Bencic had the first set under control at all times, and she only gave up four points (three double faults) on her own serve. The second was an up and down. The 25-year-old from Eastern Switzerland led 2-0, was 3-5 behind, but prevailed after just over an hour and a half and won four games in a row.
