“Last November, this infrastructure hosted the presentation of the Teguise sports schools, and we promised to work on a second phase of this ambitious multidisciplinary project”, recalled the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, at the press conference offered this Tuesday in one of the rooms of the Sports City of Costa Teguise.

“And today we are fulfilling the stage of how the new commitment that we acquired will materialize in response to the demand of the wide sports community of Teguise, who asked us that, in addition to providing Costa Teguise with a natural grass soccer field, as you can see in these new facilities -and that our sports clubs and their visitors are already enjoying- we will achieve the construction of a Sports City”, stated Betancort, referring to other disciplines that are practiced and continue to grow exponentially in Teguise such as: handball, basketball, futsal , judo, hapkido, skating, among others, in addition to the pending issue of building a semi-Olympic pool and accommodation space for sports clubs or cultural associations that visit Teguise for competitions and/or shows.

“This is one of the most exciting commitments of this legislature and it has been possible thanks to the efforts of my government team, which together with the municipal technical staff, managed to open the doors a few months ago to a space where sports practice was concentrated, a unique space in the Canary Islands, designed with special attention to visual impact, with volcanic stone throughout its construction, respecting the landscape and the environment as you can see”, he added.
