The Santander Port Authority (spain) has launched a tender for the expansion of the customs control located on the pier on the north bank, after having an empty file and it turned out that this project was abandoned on a second occasion due to an error in the evaluation of the contract.
So, those responsible for the Cantabrian enclave have returned with their improvement initiative to implement facilities that boost traffic with the United Kingdom.
In this sense, the Port Authority wants to expand the customs inspection area of the site so that it has four lines of vehicles, each with its respective roof, as well as installing a ground-floor building for services and offices, with five workstations. in three offices, toilets for staff and passengers, a storage room for confiscated products, a room for pets and a distributor hall.
Through these changes, the aim is to provide more space to the vehicle and merchandise inspection area of the customs control facilities in the port of Santander, as well as to replace the current provisional facilities, which replaced the small customs post located nearby. from the headquarters of the Port Authority, all due to the necessity caused by ‘Brexit’.
Specifically, the deserted file presented the construction of a new prefabricated module with dimensions of 12.30 by 8.30 meters, much larger than the one currently used, and with which three offices are materialized, a storage room refrigeration and storage of seized products, a pet room and public entrance that also acts as a distributor and waiting room, as well as toilets for staff and passengers.
According to the Santander Port Authority, a total useful area of 93 m² and a total constructed area of 102 m² would have been achieved. The agreement has an execution period of four months, a bidding base budget of 461,187.68 euros and an estimated value of 381,146.85 euros.
