Jannik Sinner plays in the form of his life. Now the second tournament victory is supposed to be in Rotterdam within a week. He wants to take the penultimate step there this Saturday.

After the smooth second set win against the number three in the world, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Sinner dealt with old master Stan Wawrinka in just 73 minutes 6: 1, 6: 3 on Friday evening. The consequence? For the 14th time in his young career, the 21-year-old from Sesto is in the semi-finals of an ATP tournament. So far he has made it to the final eight times and has reached the semi-finals five times.

However, the semi-finals of the ATP 500 tournament should not be easy for Sinner. Because tonight at 7:30 p.m., Sinner will definitely have the audience against them in the semifinals. For the first time in his career he meets Tallon Griekspoor, number 61 in the world. The local hero won the Dutch duel of wild card players against Gijs Brouwer 6:4, 6:4.

“It will definitely be a difficult challenge for me.”

Immediately after his win against Wawrinka, Sinner already had his sights set on the next duel on Friday evening: “It will be a different game, against a completely different player. He comes from here and will have the spectators on his side. When I play in Rome it’s the same. I’m trying to go through with my plan again. But it will definitely be a difficult challenge for me.”

In the first semi-final from 3 p.m. the Russian Daniil Medvedev (he is currently only number 11 in the world) and Grigor Dimitrov from Bulgaria (ATP 28) face each other.
