The most sustainable football teams, Liverpool 1st in the standings, Udinese 4th

The Friulians lead the ranking of Italian clubs and are positioned in 4th place among those of the top 5 leagues in Europe. Milan is 8th. The most sustainable club is Liverpool, Betis Sevilla and Real Madrid on the podium

L’Udinese it is the brand perceived as the most sustainable among football clubs in Italy and is the 4th in Europe, considering all the five main championships (Premier League, Spanish Liga, German Budesliga, French Ligue 1 and precisely our Serie A). It is the result of the report Brand Finance Football Sustainability Perceptions Index 2023made on the basis of a survey conducted among fans in the main countries of the world in the first half of 2022. The comparison parameter used takes into consideration the 3 main sustainability metrics: environment, social e governance (ESG).

Udinese’s ‘green’ initiatives

Among the virtuous examples of Udinese, which like other Italian and foreign clubs has joined the program of Nazioni Unite “Sports for Climate Action“there is the exclusive use of renewable sources for the energy supply of the Dacia Arena (one of the first places a zero emissions in Europe) and the split of the team produced using 100% sustainable fabrics (each shirt is made using 13 recycled PET plastic bottles).

Milan in the top 10: the other Italians in the standings

together withUdinese (ESG score 78.8/100), in the European top 10 there is also the Milan (8th, ESG score 73.3/100). They also appear in the ranking of the best perceived European clubs in terms of ESG Juventus (14th place), Inter (18°), Sassuolo (23°), Roma (28°), Napoli (33°) e Bologna (48° in Europa).

Liverpool leader in Europa

At the top of this ranking are the Reds, the club perceived by fans as the most eco-sustainable among those in the major leagues. Liverpool, who achieved an aggregate score of 86/100 ESG, engages in large community projects, mainly through Liverpool’s own initiatives ‘The Red Way’, ‘LFC Foundation’ and ‘Red Neighbors programme’, and has always been vocal in communicating progress made in terms of sustainability. The Spaniards complete the podium Betis Sevilla (83/100) and the Real Madrid (79/100).
