Spain signs a vital victory against France in the men’s 3×3 pre-Olympic

MADRID, 16 May. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Spanish men’s 3×3 basketball team experienced an intense first day of the pre-Olympic tournament that takes place in Debrecen (Hungary) with a defeat against Canada and a victory over France that maintains its option to be in Paris 2024.

Spain will play for its place in the quarterfinals this Saturday against Egypt in Group C, after showing nerves in its debut this Thursday but also being able to show its quality and character in the reaction against the Gauls to stay alive.

The Spanish team started without success in the triple and suffering against the Canadians Alex Johnson and Kamar McKnight (14-18). However, the option to make up for it came two hours later against one of the favorites, after Canada’s defeat against Egypt.

The talent and experience of Javi Beirsen, the energy of Unai Mendicote and the intelligence of Carlos Martínez prevailed over the French. This Friday will be the debut of the women’s team, with its first two games against Mongolia and Japan.
