Zaragoza hosted the second day of the First Division Bronze of the National Badminton Club League with the presence of the Lanzarote Raqueta Club, the only Canarian team that plays in said national competition.

The Lanzarote team traveled to this league concentration with a team made up of Paola Betancort, Zeneida Ortiz, Irene Rodríguez, Miguel Barbado, Alberto Yacomar Cabrera, Oliver Gausmann and Francisco Javier Caraballo. A day in which they faced Rosalía Peixes Vimar and Recreativo IES La Orden B on Saturday and against Huesca La Magia B on Sunday.

In the first of the matches, against the Galician team of Rosalía Peixes Vimar, only Miguel Barbado was able to carry out the commitment against Pablo Alyafa in the men’s singles, the island team falling 6-1.

They had worse fortune in the match against the Andalusians of Recreativo IES La Orden B, where the Huelva team managed to win 7-0, without giving the Canaries any options.

The clash on Sunday, against Huesca La Magia B from Huesca, was more even. The mixed duo formed by Miguel Barbado and Paola Betancort defeated Alejandro Gallego and Julia Pomar. In addition, we must add the victory in the women’s singles of Irene Rodríguez against Inés Acín and that of Miguel Barbado against Gonzalo Isabal in the men’s singles. Finally, the peninsular team won by a tight 4 to 3.

After two days of the First Division Bronze of the National Badminton Club League, the Lanzarote Raqueta Club occupies the tenth position, with 1 win and 5 losses, which would entail relegation, although there are still two days to play.

“We are risking it in the remaining matches, in Lanzarote and Vigo,” explains Oliver Gausmann, player, coach and director of the Lanzarote club, who also points out that “in theory we have already faced the four strongest teams, so if luck is with us we should climb positions in the following heats”.

The next day will be held on March 25 in Lanzarote, being the first time in history that the National Badminton Club League comes to the Canary Islands.
