Game, set, baby: tennis star Angelique Kerber became a mother for the first time. She and her partner are happy to have a little daughter.
In a black-and-white photo posted to Instagram, her newborn daughter’s tiny hand can be seen resting on her parents’. The athlete writes about the picture: “Having you with us is the most beautiful and overwhelming feeling we could ever imagine.”

The little one, who goes by the name of Liana, was born in Poznan, Poland, on Saturday. The father is the fitness economist Franco Bianco from Frankfurt, with whom the three-time Grand Slam winner has been together since the beginning of last year. Under the post from Kerber, numerous fans and tennis colleagues congratulated: Ana Ivanovic, among others, wrote: “Congratulations! I’m so happy for you.” The ex-professional player is pregnant for the third time herself.

As Kerber told “Bild” earlier, she wants to return to the tennis court by the end of the year at the latest. Maybe she’ll even get back in for the Wimbledon tournament in July. There will also be a nanny there. (alp)
