Sporting de Gijón announced this morning that it has joined the Common Goal movement, becoming the first club from the Spanish football association to join this social campaign. The rojiblanco entity will invest 1% of the box office income, subscribers and sponsorships of the Foundation. This will take its strategy through the social and environmental impact movement “Marea Rojiblanca”. In the same way, players and workers could donate 1% of their salary to improve Asturias. “We are happy and proud. Anyone who has set foot in El Molinón knows the special feeling it generates. After almost 120 years of history, it makes me very happy to see how this plan and its social and environmental impact are put on the line,” explains Joaquín Alonso, Head of Institutional Relations.

The club announces that several leaders have already announced their commitment to donate 1% of their salary: David Guerra (executive president), Gerardo García (director of sports management, who has already belonged to this movement since 2020), Germán Arguelles (director of the Foundation) and Joaquín Alonso (responsible for institutional relations).
