Salzburg loses against AS Roma

FC Salzburg came to the end of the Europa League play-off against AS Roma on Thursday. After the 1-0 win in Salzburg, Austria’s serial champions had to admit defeat 2-0 away and were eliminated with an overall score of 2-1. The draw for the round of 16 on Friday in Nyon will therefore take place without the “bulls”, who failed in the first knockout round for the fifth time in a row.

In Rome, the hosts dominated the first half and made up the deficit from the first leg. Andrea Belotti (33′) and Paulo Dybala (40′) gave coach Jose Mourinho’s team a 2-0 lead. After the change of sides, Salzburg were able to make the game more open. However, Roma controlled the action and didn’t give the visitors a great chance, who were denied the goal for extra time.
