Robin Sciot-Siegrist, provisional leader in Bangkok

Lacking convincing results since his return to the DP World Tour this season, Robin Sciot-Siegrist gave himself a breath of fresh air by taking the lead in the Thailand Classic after the morning games in Bangkok. The left-hander from St-Nom-la-Bretèche (78) is thus alone in the lead thanks to an excellent card of 66 (-6). Romain Langasque also kicked off his Thai week perfectly by posting a solid 68 (-4). The Azurean is provisionally tied for fourth!

It’s the good surprise of the day. Robin Sciot-Siegrist is currently leading the Thailand Classic ($2 million endowment). Leaving tee n°1 at 7:44 a.m. local time (1:44 a.m. in France), the left-hander of St-Nom-la-Bretèche (78) signed a superb card of 66 (-6) studded with seven birdies for a single bogey. As the afternoon games in Bangkok are just getting started, the 29-year-old Frenchman is the only provisional leader ahead of the South African Zander Lombard and the German Nick Bachemstill on the course with an identical score of -5…

It’s an ideal start for Sciot-Siegrist, looking for a convincing result this season on the DP World Tour. Back at the top level after finishing 11th in the Road to Mallorca on the Challenge Tour, he remains on four missed cuts in a row in five tournaments played. He had started with a modest 54th place finish in the Joburg Open on November 27. His inaugural 66 is here his best card since his 69 achieved at the end of the 2nd round of this same Joburg Open…

Good start also Romain Langasque which offers an encouraging 68 (-4). In five starts since the Joburg Open, the Azurean has certainly made the cut four times but only managed to finish in the top 10 once. He thus took 9th place at the Joburg Open before hanging on a top 20 (16th) in Hero Dubaï Desert Classic on January 29th… Twelve French people are lined up this week!
