The winter transfer window, which ended last night, was the scene of dizzying spending orchestrated by Premier League clubs. Thus, it is 815 million pounds sterling (approximately 920 million euros) which were disbursed by the clubs of the English first division on the transfer market in January. Over the whole of the 2022-2023 season, the total is increased to 3.17 billion euros, easily beating the previous record of 2.15 billion pounds (2.43 billion euros) established in 2017-2018.

Chelsea, which alone spent 37% of the Premier League club total this winter, spent more than all La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and Ligue 1 teams combined, according to Deloitte.
