The Panama football team has completed the table for the 2023 Women’s World Cup. Like Portugal and Haiti on Wednesday, the Central American nation prevailed in their play-off tournament in New Zealand.
The French football team knows its last opponent and women’s football fans finally know all of the 32 teams that will compete in the 2023 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, from July 20 to August 20.
For the first Women’s World Cup in their history, the Panamanians will play in Group F with France, Brazil and Jamaica. Like Portugal and Haiti the day before, Panama won Thursday, February 23, in the final of a play-off tournament in Hamilton, New Zealand.
On Wednesday, Haiti and Portugal also validated their qualification for the first time in their history for the Women’s World Cup, beating respectively Chile (2-1) and Cameroon (2-1).
Haiti facing the European champions
The Haitian team will face England, Denmark and China in Group D of the next World Cup, co-hosted by New Zealand and Australia from July 20 to August 20, 2023.
Haiti, ranked 55th nation in the world, will face the English, European champions, in the first match of group D in Brisbane on July 22. Young midfielder Melchie Dumornay, who plays for Stade de Reims, gave the Haitians the lead just before half-time in Auckland.

In the 90th minute, captain Nerilia Mondesir had her penalty kicked out. But Dumornay, 19, doubled Haiti’s lead by beating Christiane Endler, the Chilean star goalkeeper for Olympique Lyonnais, in injury time.
Substitute Maria José Rojas then reduced the score for Chile in the dying moments of added time.
Portugal gets rid of Cameroon
On the Portuguese side, they had to dominate the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon to guarantee themselves a place at the World Cup-2023.
Carole Costa knew how to keep her composure to transform a penalty in the 94th minute. Diana Gomes had given Portugal the lead in the first half, but Ajara Nchout Njoya equalized for Cameroon in the 89th minute.
The Portuguese team thus joins the United States, reigning world champions, the Netherlands, finalists in 2019, and Vietnam in Group E of the World Cup. The final qualifying spot will be decided on Thursday when Paraguay take on Panama. The winner will meet France, Jamaica and Brazil in Group F.
