On the third day of the Latvian swimming championship, Miķelsons won a double – Swimming – Sportacentrs.com

Miķelsons was crowned Latvian champion in the 100m freestyle yesterday, finishing in 50.97 seconds, and in the 200m medley, showing a result of two minutes and 05.06 seconds. In the freestyle, silver went to Tomas Weinberg (52.15), and bronze to Red Rulli (52.54), while in the complex, Miķelsons left Nikolas Deichmans (2:11.67) and Daina Kudryavtseva (2:16.49) behind.

In the women’s competition, the title of Latvian champion in 100m freestyle was won by Gabriela Nyikitina (57.30), silver went to Zane Embrektei (59.60), and bronze went to Elizabete Paula Ozola (1:00.84). In the 200m individual medley, the gold went to Emilija Kraukle from Ogre (2:33.40), who beat Marija Goberga (2:34.51) and Polina Kurmeleva (2:39.21), respectively.

Rūta Škirus (33.63) and Rihards Kahanovičs (29.15) were crowned Latvian champions in the 50m breaststroke. Marta Valkovska (34.46) and Francis Pēteris Lufts (29.15) finished second in this distance, while Yekaterina Smirnova (34.59) and Stanislav Shakeli (29.59) finished third.

In the 50m sprint on the backstroke, the Latvian champion title went to Elizabet Paula Ozola (30.77), who beat Laura Šinkus (31.04) and Kristīni Zinovič, while for the men, Āirts Feldbergs (26.33), Kristiāns Brenčs (26.82) and Toms Veinbergs (26.99) got on the podium.

Finally, in the longest distance of this championship – 1500m freestyle – Rēzekne BJSS student Oļegs Mihailovs (16:59.92) was crowned the Latvian champion, silver was awarded to Albert Hmeļevskis (17:16.43), and triathlete Artūrs Liepa (17:33.92) earned the third place.
