FADOQ Regional Games Celebrate 30th Anniversary with Over 1,200 Seniors Participating

The 30th FADOQ Regional Games were officially launched this morning. In total, more than 1,200 seniors will come together to get moving and socialize from Forestville to Port-Cartier.

The event began on May 4 at the Guy-Ouellet complex and the Forestville high school gymnasium. It will continue the next day when, at the end of the day, the medals will be awarded and the sectoral winners of the new Angèle-Bouchard Prize will be drawn.

From May 6 to 8, the seniors will travel to Baie-Comeau to conclude this first part of the activities. Pocket baseball, pickleball, pétanque-atout, big bowling, sandbags and card games (500) are included.

The Games will continue in Port-Cartier from May 25 to 27 for seniors in the eastern sector of the region.

The general director of FADOQ Côte-Nord, Claudine Émond, is delighted with the participation in this 30th anniversary of the Regional Games.

“There will be around 400 more people than last year thanks to all the initiatives we have taken to invite clubs to participate,” she says.

The various FADOQ clubs on the North Shore could also register more than two teams per discipline this year unlike other editions.

50th anniversary

The year 2024 also rhymes with the 50 years of existence of FADOQ Côte-Nord. This anniversary will be celebrated in a big way on June 1 when a gala will be held at the Pavillon Mance in Baie-Comeau. All members and volunteers of FADOQ clubs are invited to participate.

It will also be an opportunity to name the first grand prize winner of the Angèle-Bouchard Prize, which recognizes volunteerism among seniors.
