NFL: Receiver AJ Green announces retirement

Wide receiver AJ Green announced his retirement via his Instagram account after 11 seasons in the NFL.

Special thanks to the University of Georgia, Cincinnati Bengals and Arizona Cardinals for the opportunity to make my dreams come true. I stayed true to the game and this one owes me nothing. The 34-year-old Green had spent the past two seasons in an Arizona Cardinals uniform, having spent the first nine of his career in Cincinnati with the Bengals.

In 15 games this season, the American had 24 receptions for a total of 236 yards, in addition to scoring two touchdowns.

Selected fourth overall in the 2011 NFL Draft by the Bengals, Green finished his career with seven seasons of 1,000+ receiving yards, including a 1,426-yard campaign in 2013.

The Simmerville, South Carolina native has 10,514 receiving yards, which ranks him 44th in NFL history.
