AlphaTauri unveiled a modified livery for the 2023 season on last year’s model in New York, while also releasing a few basic renders of the new AT04 car, which shares a number of components with Red Bull.
Some time ago, the company welcomed a new main sponsor – the Polish company Orlen, which enlivens the coloring with red. It unveiled it in New York last night, just as parent company Red Bull did.
The new AT04 will make its first test at Misano on Tuesday, with joint pre-season testing for all teams starting on February 23 in Bahrain. According to technical director Jody Egginton, his team tried to be aggressive with internal layout and aerodynamic improvements to increase downforce levels, which was their biggest weakness last year.
“We simply lacked downforce compared to our main rivals and we identified opportunities to reduce weight. Almost all areas of the car are a strong evolution against the AT03 and a lot of attention has been paid to the internal arrangements, giving us the best basis for aerodynamic development.” describing.
“A synergistic program [s Red Bullem] continues with a similar basis to previous years. It is extremely beneficial for us, so we will continue on this path. We keep some parts in the same specification as last year, others have been modified and the overall range of parts purchased from Red Bull remains virtually the same. It’s a strategic decision I made some time ago, but overall it represents continuity in line with what we did last year.” by Egginton.
Japanese Juki Cunoda and Nyck de Vries, who last year successfully entered the race with Williams for the ill Alexander Albon, will race for the team this year. On his Monza debut, he immediately scored points.
