NBA, Kyrie Irving: “No questions about the future”

In tonight’s game, i Mavs lost at home to Minnesota on the score of 121-124. Doncic e Irving they both had excellent performance. The former finished with a double-double of 33 points and 12 rebounds, while the newcomer scored 36 points – including 24 in the final quarter – and dished out six assists to his teammates. However, the contributions of the new pair of Mavs were not enough to collect the victory.

Before the game, a statement by Irving had received all the attention in the Dallas media. Yesterday, the former number 11 of the Nets had the introductory press conference with the press of the Texan team, and asked to receive questions only about the present his and the team. Irving asked not to receive questions about the future, which he described as follows:

“Bring unwanted distractions to me and the team. I’ve been there before, and emotionally it’s very difficult to answer questions like, ‘What’s going to happen in the long run? What’s going to happen in the long run?’”

Nico Harrisongeneral manager of the Mavs who has had good relations with Irving since high school, however, said he was very calm about it:

“I don’t see any risk or any problem. I’ve known Kyrie for a long time, I know who she is and how she carries herself. I think every person who has ever seen him play knows what kind of person Kyrie is. So I don’t see any problem with him. The only problem is not signing the contract in the future”

Irving said he didn’t want to talk about the upcoming offseason, where he could find himself a free agent if you don’t want to sign the contract extension with Dallas. In the press conference he said:

“Since the beginning, since I arrived here, I have felt wanted, I have felt genuine love and family relationships that I can deal with if there are any doubts or problems. It’s a very positive thing. Now I think one day at a time, it’s the only thing I can do. What happens in the future will only depend on what I do today and how I prepare. My goal is to be the best teammate I can be in the locker room and a great leader, in Dallas and throughout the NBA. I will continue to be myself. So I’ll just focus on what awaits us as a team.”
