NBA, Adam Silver against trade requests; Irving and Durant replies

At the annual press conference held during the NBA All-Star Weekend the commissioner Adam Silver went to the point of foil on the hot topic of these post trade deadline days.

While emphasizing a market movement that affected almost 10% of the players as a positive factor and a sign of vitality, Silver contested the trade request mechanism by the stars. Here is the point of him, as a manager:

“In the current collective agreement there are provisions contrary to the possibility of requesting an exchange by the players. It is corrosive to the system. Many players have been doing this behind the scenes for a long time. I am strongly against any utterances [in merito] done in public. A certain number of agreements are fine, but there must be sharing [tra atleta e squadra].”

Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving’s reply to the NBA commissioner

Diametrically Opposing Visions Between Silver and Durant, Irving. The two players did not hold back, remaining firm in their respective positions. So Durant:

“I don’t think any of this is a bad sign for the league. News of the trades, mine and Kyrie’s bring [anzi] more media attention.

Irving looked even more annoyed:

Why Nobody can you ask for a trade? When did making business decisions that are optimal for you, your happiness and peace of mind as an athlete become something terrible? You can’t get along with everyone. If there is the possibility of a change of scenery and it is done legally, I don’t see where the problem is.”
