Mexico closes participation in the Badminton Pan American Cup; settles in fourth place

After several days of competitions, the Mexican badminton team culminated in fourth place in the Pan American Cup of the discipline that took place in Guadalajara, Jalisco, this after being surpassed 3-2 by its counterpart from Brazil in the fight for the third competition position.

The tricolor representative obtained two victories, Luis Garrido, in the men’s singles, who defeated Ygor Coelho 2-1, while Job Castillo and Luis Armando Montoya prevailed in the men’s doubles 2-0 against Fabricio Farías and David Silva.

The Brazilian squad turned the competition around and won the mixed doubles, after Farías and Jaqueline Lima beat Luis Montoya and Miriam Rodríguez 2-0; In the women’s singles, Juliana Vieira defeated Vanessa García 2-0 and in the women’s doubles, the locals Romina Fregoso and Miriam Rodríguez lost 2-1 to Samia Lima and Sania Lima.

Canada and the United States played the grand final of the event that is part of the Pan American Badminton Confederation calendar, where the maple leaf country team won the gold medal by winning 3-0.

The international event was held at the Code Mayor Dome in Guadalajara and brought together players from Argentina, Brazil, Canada, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Peru, the United States and Venezuela.
