Juanhe Spanish legionnaire who has fought for a year in the Ukrainian war, finally has returned to Spain. One day after returning home, the soldier went to the set of ‘Everything is a lie’ to tell us how he is doing and to meet face to face with Risto Mejide and his collaborators, with whom he has made dozens of video calls in which he has told how the situation was at the front.
After an interview in which the presenter worried about Juan, his state of health and his experiences in the war, it was the soldier who wanted to know how his interlocutor was.
“Are you okay?” Juan asked Risto Mejide. He has answered sincerely: “I was bad and now I’m better. (…) I listen to you and I’m fucking mad. I think ‘what the f** am I complaining about?’ Despite everything that has happened in the war, Juan has empathized with the presenter of ‘Everything is a lie’: “I would also complain about yours because I have also been through it”.
“You highlight things when you hear this type of testimonial”, Risto replied. He believes that he and his colleagues are privileged to be able to work on what they like, laughing and making people laugh, and on top of that getting paid for it. “You have to go to Ukraine, you kill people and they try to kill you,” he added. But Juan has corrected him: “I save people and they try to kill me.”
This situation makes the presenter think that What is he complaining about? but he added that, although everyone becomes sensitive after hearing testimonies like Juan’s, then they go back to their lives and it is forgotten.
