Gladbach’s weakness away from home this season cannot be dismissed out of hand. In the eleventh attempt there was already the sixth defeat in Mainz, again Borussia showed their ugly away face. The 0: 4 at FSV was a bitter bankruptcy. Christoph Kramer found correspondingly clear words at DAZN after the final whistle: “After a 0: 4 in Mainz you can say what you want. Everything feels shit and every positive word that you could say about the game feels wrong. ”

Early goal after the break ‘killed us’

Gladbach’s midfield veteran blamed Mainz’s second goal shortly after the restart for the disappointing result: “What mustn’t happen to us – and that’s the thing that killed us – is that we come out like this. At 0 :2 the legs and the feet and the matter of course don’t get any easier.”

However, not everything about his team’s performance was bad for Kramer. Although the last quarter of an hour in particular was “really shitty” because the guests were chasing “the ball and the music”, “otherwise it didn’t feel so wrong. Even though I know that after 0: 4 there’s no point makes talking about it because it’s a results sport”.

If you lose 4-0, there’s no point in talking about anything that was positive.

Nevertheless, the 2014 world champion insisted that Gladbach “played a good first half against a good team that is currently going through a good phase” and could have come back later: “Even after the 2-0 we had two more correct good chances. It wasn’t easy, but we fought back.” With the third goal, however, the Foals’ last resistance was broken, which is why Kramer concluded his conclusion as it had started: “If you lose 4-0, it makes no sense to talk about anything that was positive.”

This should change next week. On Saturday, Gladbach host SC Freiburg at Borussia Park (15.30, LIVE! on kicker) and will hope to repeat the performance that recently led to a win over FC Bayern Munich. Then Kramer and Co. should be able to say positive words much more easily.
