Hamidin said the reason for Malaysia’s withdrawal from the 2022 Asian Games was because they wanted to prioritize the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup qualification.

The decision was made after considering the views of FAM Technical Director Scott O’Donell and head coach E. Elavarasan.

Qualification for the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup is Malaysia’s top priority as they are determined to appear at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
