Handball: PSG kills all suspense against Nîmes

Quickly done well done. After the success in Plock last Thursday which assured them the head of their group and a place in the quarter-finals of the Champions League, the Parisians continued this Sunday with a real demonstration at home against Nîmes (41-33). Authors of a dazzling start to the match, they now await the Hungarians of Veszprém, next Wednesday, with serenity.

The objective before the meeting was simple for the players of coach Raul Gonzalez, who was able to recover all of his squad, apart from Nikola Karabatic, victim of phlebitis and absent for several months. After Montpellier’s victory on Friday against Créteil (36-27), only victory was possible. And it didn’t drag.

In barely a quarter of an hour of play, Paris shot 18 times at the opposing goal and scored… 18 times! And as during this time, the Swedish goalkeeper Andréas Palicka was 58% successful, the note was quickly salty (18-6, 20th). Kamil Syprzak was the first to miss the target but the French champion already had enough of a lead.

Nantes hurts Ivry

At the break, the only question was whether the Pole and his teammates were going to keep up this hellish pace (25-13). The second period allowed the Spanish coach to rotate his squad, with the entries of Ntanzi, Plantin, Mathé and Gibelin. Paris finally maintains a good gap and offers its 16th success in 18 games.

In the standings, PSG is still co-leader with Montpellier, with two points ahead of Nantes, who won this Sunday in Ivry (32-36). Didier Dinart’s players nevertheless led (26-22, 40th), before experiencing an abysmal slump (26-31, 49th). The Ivryens make the bad operation of the day and slip into a relegation position (15th).
