Santiago de Chile, Feb 5 (EFE) , by defeating the best of Kazakhstan, Alexander Bublik, number 36 of the ATP, 6-4, 3-6 and 6-3.

The Chilean, number 102 of the ATP, took to the court of the La Serena tennis club, 400 kilometers north of the capital, with the option of becoming the hero of the classification after Chile won the previous doubles match in a series that on Saturday had been tied.

With today’s victory in the fourth game, the Chileans won 3-1.

Garín entered the court with the clear desire to remove the weight of criticism that fell on him on Saturday for being widely surpassed by Timofey Skatov, ATP number 129 and second Kazakh racket.

This Sunday ‘el Tanque’ was solid, and with two service breaks he opened the way and loosened his nerves.

But Bublik reacted and won the second set and left everything open.

Driven by nearly 8,000 followers, the Chilean resisted, broke Bublik’s solidity and won the decisive point for the second time, as he did in 2019 in a qualifying round with Austria.

Chile will thus be among the 16 best teams in September along with countries like the United States, Spain, Italy, France, Switzerland, Serbia, and Sweden. EFE
