The masses propose, everyone decides, and the government runs.

Recently, with the closing of the “two sessions” of various districts and counties (cities) in Hangzhou, ten practical facts about people’s livelihood in 2023 have been released one after another.

A detailed count of the people’s livelihood in the 13 districts and counties (cities) of Hangzhou has been done for many years, such as new schools, new parking spaces, etc. But there is one practical thing, which is the first year of this year to enter the district, county (city) annual livelihood practical affairs, and it is also the first time that the 13 districts and counties (cities) in Hangzhou are doing the same practical thing uniformly, that is, “new embedded sports facilities”.

In 2023, why are 13 districts and counties (cities) in Hangzhou building embedded sports facilities?

“Stadium” in the people’s livelihood of 13 districts and counties (cities)

One piece of standard basketball court and one piece of five-a-side football field will be reconstructed.

Jiande City: The newly added embedded sports field covers an area of 12,000 square meters.

Why build so many embedded sports fields?

What are embedded sports facilities?

In areas such as communities, parks and green spaces, waterfront greenways, spaces under bridges, roofs, etc., public sports facilities are built in every stitch.

What is the construction content?

Basketball courts, football courts, volleyball courts, gateball courts, table tennis courts, badminton courts and tennis courts, etc.

How do you operate daily?

It is operated free of charge or at a low cost. The annual opening time shall not be less than 330 days, and the weekly opening time shall not be less than 70 hours; the average daily opening time shall not be less than 12 hours during public holidays, statutory holidays, and school winter and summer vacations. .

In April 2021, the National Development and Reform Commission and the General Administration of Sports jointly issued the “Implementation Plan for the National Fitness Facilities Improvement Project during the 14th Five-Year Plan” period, showing that by the end of 2020, the per capita sports field area across the country will reach 2.2 square meters. By 2025, the national per capita sports field area will reach 2.6 square meters or more, and the number of football fields per 10,000 people will reach 0.9 blocks.

According to statistics, in 2022, 308 new sports and fitness facilities for the masses will be built in Hangzhou, and the per capita sports area will increase to more than 2.6 square meters.

From this point of view, Hangzhou people have already achieved the per capita goal of 2025 in the “Plan”.

Since there is no shortage of sports venues, why do districts, counties (cities) still list “new built-in sports venue facilities” as an annual livelihood issue?

Meng Qingqing, a researcher at the fourth level of the Social Department of the Hangzhou Development and Reform Commission, said that there are some structural contradictions in the existing public sports facilities in Hangzhou, which need to be solved by building embedded sports facilities.

Structural contradictions, in fact, are the contradictions between the people’s growing need for physical fitness and the unbalanced and inadequate development of fitness facilities.

Previously, most of the public sports venues built in Hangzhou were fitness trails and other projects. As a result, the structure of the current sports venues is unreasonable, and ordinary people lack fitness facilities within walking distance.

This is why the embedded sports facilities under construction in Hangzhou tend to be venues for three-ball (football, basketball, volleyball), three-ball (tennis, badminton, table tennis) and gateball.

Of course, there is another important reason why districts and counties (cities) in Hangzhou have built embedded sports venues so seamlessly, that is, Hangzhou is becoming more and more sports-loving.

“Now, Hangzhou is in an important window period for hosting the Asian Games, building a metropolis, and promoting modernization. The upsurge of national fitness is very high, and the public’s demand for sports venues and facilities is also very strong.” Meng Qingqing said.
